Champion Slick Magnetos

We are proud to announce that Champion Aerospace have appointed Nicholson McLaren Aviation as the factory approved overhaul repair station for the Champion/Slick magneto line in Europe.

Magnetos are a crucial component of an aircraft’s ignition system, and it’s important to ensure that the magnetos are always maintained to a high, factory approved, standard.

Overhaul requirements for the 4300/6300 Series magnetos:

· TBO (time before overhaul) must be the same as the engine overhaul requirements on which the magnetos are installed; most commonly 2000 hrs or 12 years, whichever comes first (please check your engine’s TBO limit). Under no circumstances are the magnetos to have in-service times greater than the TBO limit of the engine on which it is installed.

· Aircraft suffering lightning strike

· Sudden engine stoppage/prop strike

· Engine Overspeed

· Engine Immersion

As a Champion Aerospace approved Repair station, we offer overhaul, repair, and exchange options for all the 4300/6300 Slick magneto lines. All Champion Slick magneto overhauls, repairs and 500hr inspections are carried out I.A.W Champion Aerospace’s latest maintenance technical data and installing only genuine Champion approved parts. All work carried out is performed to the highest standards, ensuring all service bulletins (SB) and airworthiness directives (AD) are checked and embodied if required.

All overhauled Champion Slick magnetos will be released as zero-time since overhaul and all work carried out can be released with a UK CAA Form 1, CAA/FAA Dual Release Form 1 or EASA Form 1 depending on your requirements.

When your Champion Slick Magneto is overhauled by us, only the main housing and drive shaft remain, all other parts are replaced with new genuine Champion parts. Having your magneto overhauled rather than replacing it also has the added benefit of reducing waste and your carbon footprint.

Below is a list of all the genuine Champion parts replaced at overhaul:

· Condenser

· Double sealed bearing

· Bearing cap assembly

· Coil

· Oil seal

· Contact point kit

· Rotor gear

· Distributor block and gear

· Woodruff key(s) cotter pin

· Washer

· Impulse coupling (where applicable)

· Impulse coupling spring (where applicable)

 

A new data plate is also installed which will keep the original serial number for full traceability.
