Goodwood Aerodrome, UK – April 2026

Nicholson McLaren Aviation (NMA), the only official Lycoming Authorized Service Center in the Northern Hemisphere, has announced a strategic brand ambassador partnership with Ultimate High, Europe’s leading provider of on-aircraft Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) and advanced flight safety training.

This unique collaboration brings together two organisations who operate at the highest levels of their disciplines: world-class piston engine engineering and practical, evidence-based flight safety training.

Holding CAA, FAA, EASA & CAAB Approvals, Nicholson McLaren Aviation delivers the Lycoming standard across an international client base by supporting aircraft owners and operators. Whilst safety is paramount, our clients expect uncompromising reliability, regulatory compliance and technical precision supported by great after sales care all of which NMA deliver – elevating NMA to be the leading piston-engine workshop for a significant proportion of the global general aviation fleet.

Ultimate High, based at Goodwood Aerodrome, has established itself as Europe’s benchmark UPRT academy, delivering Advanced UPRT under EASA FCL.745.A and instructor training under FCL.915(e). The organisation works with airline, military and business aviation pilots worldwide as well as advising National Aviation Regulators and is recognised for its leadership in Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I) prevention and startle-surprise mitigation.

A Shared Standard of Excellence

Mark Greenfield FRAeS, CEO and Chief Safety Pilot at Ultimate High, commented:

“Every recovery we teach depends on absolute trust — trust in the aircraft, trust in the engineering, and trust in the systems that underpin safe flight. Lycoming engines power a vast proportion of the world’s training and aerobatic fleet, and Nicholson McLaren Aviation represents the highest level of engineering stewardship within that ecosystem.

We chose NMA because their philosophy mirrors ours. In UPRT, there is no margin for approximation. Discipline, precision and integrity are everything. That same mindset defines NMA’s approach to engine overhaul and continuing airworthiness.

This partnership reflects a shared belief that safety is built on detail — and that excellence must exist both on the ground and in the air.”

John Waghorn, Managing Director of Nicholson McLaren Aviation, said:

“Ultimate High has established itself as Europe’s leading on-aircraft UPRT provider and a powerful advocate for raising standards across general aviation. Mark’s award of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots’ Cumberbatch Trophy for outstanding contribution to flight safety is a clear recognition of that influence and leadership.

When selecting a brand ambassador, we were looking for an organisation that genuinely embodies precision, accountability and a deep commitment to safety culture. Ultimate High’s reputation, professionalism and impact within the aviation community made them a natural choice.

Having worked with Mark and his team for many years, we are particularly pleased that this partnership will extend beyond brand alignment into tangible safety initiatives. Ultimate High’s inaugural Flight Safety Forum being held at Goodwood Aerodrome on May 17th will proudly be supported by Lycoming and Nicholson McLaren Aviation, reinforcing our shared commitment to helping make general aviation safer through education, engagement and engineering integrity.”

Safety as a System

The partnership will include joint brand visibility across Ultimate High’s aircraft and training operations, collaboration on safety-focused educational content, and shared presence at major aviation events.

At its core, the relationship reflects a shared principle: aviation safety is systemic. It depends upon exceptional pilot training, disciplined operational culture and uncompromising engineering standards.

By aligning Lycoming-authorized engineering authority with Europe’s foremost UPRT academy, Nicholson McLaren Aviation and Ultimate High are signalling a united commitment to strengthening safety across the general aviation community.
